Terms of Use

1. What we are

Salone Australia is a free community information directory. We publish information only. We are not the organiser, host, promoter, seller, employer, recruiter, landlord, ticket agent, broker or agent of anyone listed, and we do not inspect venues, businesses, products or people. Any arrangement, payment or dispute is solely between you and the third party. A listing is not an endorsement or recommendation.

2. Information is provided as is

Listings come from community members and public sources. We review submissions but do not guarantee that any listing is accurate, complete, current, lawful or safe. Dates, venues, prices and availability can change or be cancelled. Always confirm directly with the organiser or business before you rely on, travel to, pay for or apply for anything.

3. Your submissions and promises

When you send us anything, you promise that:

• it is true and not misleading to the best of your knowledge, and you are 18 or older or have a parent or guardian's permission;
• you have the right and every permission needed to share it, including consent from anyone named, pictured or contacted through it;
• the event, business, job or notice complies with all laws of the state or territory where it happens, including liquor licensing, food safety, venue and council permits, public liability, trade and occupational licences, employment and fair work laws, gaming and raffle permits, and fundraising or charity registration;
• it does not breach anyone's copyright, trade mark, privacy or confidentiality, and is not defamatory, discriminatory, hateful, harassing, obscene, a scam, or otherwise unlawful.

Stating a relationship to a listing (for example, owner or organiser) does not give you ownership or control of it.

4. Licence to use your content

You keep ownership of what you send. You grant Salone Australia a worldwide, royalty-free, non-exclusive, perpetual, irrevocable and transferable licence (including the right to sub-license to our service providers) to store, review, edit, format, translate, publish, share, promote and archive your submission in any medium, including the website, apps, social channels and printed posters. To the extent permitted by the Copyright Act 1968 (Cth), you consent to us editing, shortening or reformatting it and publishing it without attribution.

5. Moderation

Our team may approve, edit for clarity or accuracy, decline, unpublish, archive or remove any content at any time, for any reason, without notice. Featured placement is chosen by our team and is never for sale. Sponsored content is always labelled. We act on reports of harmful or unlawful content promptly, and in line with the Online Safety Act 2021 (Cth).

6. Acceptable use

Do not scrape, copy in bulk, disrupt, attack, reverse-engineer or misuse the service, impersonate others, send spam or unsolicited messages to listed contacts (see the Spam Act 2003 (Cth)), or use listings for harassment. We may block access to anyone who breaches these terms.

7. Your consumer rights

Nothing in these terms excludes, restricts or modifies any right or remedy you have under the Australian Consumer Law (Schedule 2 of the Competition and Consumer Act 2010 (Cth)) or the fair trading laws of any state or territory that cannot lawfully be excluded.

8. Liability

To the maximum extent permitted by law, Salone Australia, its operators, volunteers and moderators are not liable for any loss, damage, injury, cost or dispute (including indirect or consequential loss) arising from your use of the service, any listing, any third party, or any event, business, job or notice shown. Where liability cannot be excluded, it is limited, where the law allows, to supplying the service again or paying the cost of having it supplied again.

9. Indemnity

You agree to cover Salone Australia for any claim, penalty, loss or cost (including reasonable legal costs) brought by any person or regulator anywhere in Australia, caused by your submission or your breach of these terms or of any law.

10. Corrections and takedowns

If something is wrong, infringes your rights or concerns you, use "Suggest an edit" on the listing and we will review it promptly. Urgent safety concerns should also go to the police or the relevant authority.

11. Law and courts — all of Australia

These terms are governed by the laws in force in Australia, including Commonwealth law and the law of the state or territory relevant to the matter: New South Wales, Victoria, Queensland, Western Australia, South Australia, Tasmania, the Australian Capital Territory, the Northern Territory, and Australia's external territories (including Norfolk Island, Christmas Island and the Cocos (Keeling) Islands). You and we submit to the non-exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of the Commonwealth and of each of those states and territories.

12. General

If any part of these terms is invalid or unenforceable in any state or territory, it is read down or severed in that place only, and the rest continues to apply everywhere. We may update these terms; the date above shows the latest version, and continued use means you accept the change. If we don't enforce a term straight away, we can still enforce it later.
